I AM HAMLET is a fast-moving-one-man show. This version of the tragedy of the Prince of Denmark is performed by musical theatre “wiz”, Brian Morey, who also composed the score. The piece was written & directed by Joe Siracusa. Brian and Joe have developed a “showbiz” style to match the versatile adaptation of the Shakespeare classic.

Brian Morey plays Hamlet, Horatio, King Claudius, Ophelia, Polonius, and Derroch Death, a gravedigger, in a series of quick magic-trick costume changes. The solo performer takes on the Shakespeare text with precision and skill. Brian Morey is
Shakespeare with clarity and inventiveness. The adaptation is broad in scope but still keeps the popular sections and famous monologues of the piece intact. The show is performed in five movements: The Ghost, The Game, The Mousetrap, The
Madness, and The Vengeance. This entertaining portrayal of Hamlet uses every classic theatre device: music, singing, masks, puppets, and fast costume changes to tell the story of this quick hip version of the troubled Prince of Denmark.

The show is intended to make Hamlet affordable, accessible, and short enough in length to attract a wider audience base to rekindle excitement around the poetry and writing of Shakespeare. From the Shakespeare enthusiast to those who are intimidated and have “Shakes-fear”, the show will have a broad appeal. It is affordable with simple production requirements making it ideal for any size theatre. I AM HAMLET also works well in combination with professional theatre workshops, literary exploration, or academic study.

I AM HAMLET tours easily with minimal props and costumes. The performance runs about and hour and thirty-five minutes with an intermission for concession sales.
