Aurora Shakespeare People is a company dedicated to the works of William Shakespeare and to educational outreach. The group is composed of students, teachers, theatre professionals, and entrepreneurs. We aim to make Shakespeare available, accessible, and affordable to any person of any age. The company also works with people to develop their skills in many different areas of the theatre industry.
Educationally, we want to make it possible for talented young people to develop their skills from elementary school up through a professional career. We use sports as an analogy for our educational program. That is, almost every community in this country offers a child who is interested in becoming an athlete a number of opportunities for advancement. Baseball, for example, has pony league, little league, and so on up to the majors. But this kind of progressive experience in the arts is rarely available to most parts of America, especially rural environments. For this reason, Aurora Shakespeare People is designed to provide graduated levels of experience in theatre so that, regardless of age or stage, people can explore different facets of a fabulously rewarding, meaningful, and even lucrative profession.
